The Beginning

The Beginning

The US poultry industry has done a phenomenal job in meeting the demands of the mass market in America by producing large quantities of wholesome, nutritious products at unbelievably low prices. In fact, US poultry products are one of the lowest cost proteins in the world.

However, chefs, especially in fine dining establishments, and consumers with sophisticated palates were looking for chicken and other poultry products that were superior in quality to the products produced primarily for the chain grocery stores and fast food restaurants. They wanted better taste, texture, and culinary qualities than were found in most commodity chickens.

In 1995, our company set a goal to find and produce an all-natural chicken with the best taste and culinary characteristics in America. As a result, Ashley Farms all-natural chicken was introduced as an alternative to factory farmed commercial chickens grown in an intense environment.

Using animal raising practices of past generations, and a back-to-basics approach to processing, Ashley Farms chickens have been satisfying chefs and consumers since its introduction. Ashley Farms birds are humanely raised in clean, low stress, environmentally controlled housing, are provided fresh air on a continual basis, and have enough room (20 to 25% more than most commercial chickens) to roam freely inside their houses. The chefs and consumers who use our chickens tell us that they taste better and are more moist and tender than other brands.

In addition to being the best tasting chicken in America, Ashley Farms chickens are tested to ensure that there are no antibiotics, pesticides, metals, toxins, or other artificial ingredients present in the birds when processed. All grains and ingredients used for feed, the well water on the farms, and even the farm soil is tested to ensure that the birds are not exposed to pesticides or toxins. This is accomplished by one of the most sophisticated and rigorous quality control systems and laboratory testing programs used in the poultry industry. All of this has allowed us to produce the best tasting all-natural chicken in America.

So where do we go from here? Why not produce the best chicken in the world!
